ABOUT ME
Fabian Landherr

I didn’t come into safety from the classic consulting side — I came from operational responsibility.
14 years in Swiss air traffic control — from air traffic controller trainee to procedures expert to head of a business unit with 60 staff in Zurich and Geneva, with responsibility in crisis management and leadership of a multi-year change programme. In parallel, 25 years as a volunteer firefighter.
Two worlds in which safety isn’t discussed theoretically — it functions under time pressure, with real consequences and often under uncertainty, or it doesn’t. That’s where I learnt how deeply organisations are shaped by culture, leadership and communication — and how little handbooks alone can do.
In parallel, I deepened my academic foundation: Master’s in Human Factors & System Safety at Lund University (Sweden), Master’s in Strategic Management, Bachelor’s in Business Informatics, and the International Certificate in Enterprise Risk Management (IRM, London).
This combination of operational experience, leadership responsibility, systems thinking and modern safety science shapes how I work as a consultant.
Since 2019, I’ve been working as a consultant — with my own engagements through safety & risk solutions GmbH and in collaboration with established consulting firms. The work spans building enterprise risk management in the financial sector, project and quality management in federal key projects, and safety, leadership and Human Factors topics in aviation and regulated IT.
I don’t believe in safety through more rules — I believe in organisations that learn to deal with uncertainty professionally. My focus isn’t on perfect processes, but on leadership, dialogue and structures that hold up under pressure.
My approach is pragmatic: small steps, honest conversations, and solutions that hold up in everyday work — not paper in a folder.
If that resonates with your situation, I’d welcome the conversation.
